Panoramablog.com is under heavy construction, even if not immediately obvious. All the posts are getting polished and moved into a database. Much of the material has not yet been treated, and you will find it missing. However, while adding new material, old postings also reappear (in reverse chronological order) as the days go by. You can see more of my work at these additional sites:

Pokey the PLATYPUS (Personal Long-range All-Terrain Yacht Proven Un-Safe) returned once again to perticipate in the Kinetic Race. This is an unstoppable well (elbow-)greased machine.
Also observe Wilma, the Wombat and Bob Buerger's Kinetic Airways.
Disclaimer: The photos comprising this image had been taken over a prolonged period of time so people and machinery may appear together when in fact they took their spaces at diferent moments in time.

Wilma the Wombat is a surfer girl and that's just one of her many assets NOT shown off in this panorama. You may discover the letter Y on her arm, the tail end of her tattoo reading 'I ♥ Pokey' (see the Platypus above). Give the Wombats extra credit: they continued playing once afloat.

Somehow I missed the fireball candy give-away by this brigade, but I was offered a sandwich as I snapped their picture during their break.

Fifi is an eight year veteran of the Kinetic Race. She hardly needs introduction and reamins a crowd favorite. Dont let the fluff fool you, there's a mean machine underneath that Baltimore charm.

These are the kind souls who spared no article of clothing or square inch of skin to make sure that the mudpit was deep, wet and dirty.

Part of Fells Point's annual Privateer Day, the Bond Street Warf Park hosted a Living History Camp, where capable impersonators demonstrated all things pirate-like, sounding off frequent pistol fires audible in a mile radius and beyond.

The Polar Bear Plunge took place in the Sandy Point State Park in Maryland and, in essence, it's a fundraising event for the Maryland Special Olympics. Qualifying participants, those who managed to raise at least $50 in sponsorship dipped into the 36 degree water.

Additional events included HugaPalooza '08, resulting in a new Guinness record by Josh Speigel of local radio station 98 Rock. The germaphobe radio personality hugged 1000 people within an hour (actually, 34 minutes).
The event reportedly drew some ten thousand participants and netted three million dollars in all, in no small part due to Ellwood "Bunky" Bartlett, Mega Millions lottery winner's million dollar donation.
Hence, upon setting the new Guinness record, it seemed only befitting that Josh Spiegel hugged Bunky, bringing his total hug count to 1001.

Although we broke with our Hungarian tradition to decorate our tree on Christmas Eve, we remained true to our customary fish dinner on that night. The rockfish turned out excellent, as did the saffron risotto. Still, the prize had to go to the chocolate madeleines. Lesson learnt: no more half bottles of champagne; go for full or better yet, the magnum next time ;^)

Traditionally, we've been decorating our tree on Christmas Eve. As a matter of fact, when I was a child, seeing the Christmas tree for the first time was one of the best presents every time. This year, however, we were given a tree way sooner, and although the tree still spent a formidable amount of time laying around in solitude on our porch, we finally lit up the house and the tree on the day of Winter Solstice . . .
